Grenache Red Wine
Grenache is a versatile red grape variety known for producing a range of wine styles. Originating from Spain, where it's called Garnacha, Grenache is also widely grown in France, Australia, and other wine regions. Grenache wines are often characterized by their medium to full body, bright red fruit flavors like raspberry and strawberry, and spicy, peppery notes. They can range from lighter, more delicate styles to robust, full-bodied reds. Grenache is frequently used in blends, particularly in Southern Rhône wines like Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and it also shines in varietal wines.
The grape thrives in warm climates and is valued for its ability to produce wines with good acidity and low tannins, making it approachable and food-friendly. It is also used to make rosé wines, which are noted for their fresh, fruity flavors and vibrant color.
