Rum
Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses or sugarcane juice. Originating in the Caribbean during the 17th century, rum has a storied history. The production process involves fermenting and distilling these sugarcane byproducts, followed by aging in wooden barrels, which imparts distinct flavors and colors.
There are several types of rum, including white rum, dark rum, and spiced rum, each offering unique characteristics. White rum, known for its mild flavor, is commonly used in cocktails. Dark rum, aged longer, has a richer and more robust taste, making it suitable for sipping or adding depth to mixed drinks. Spiced rum is flavored with various spices and sometimes caramel for additional complexity.
