Wolfburn
Wolfburn is a Scottish distillery located in Thurso, in the northern Highlands, known for producing high-quality single malt Scotch whisky. Established in 2013, it takes its name from a 19th-century distillery that once operated nearby. Wolfburn prides itself on traditional whisky-making methods, using unpeated malt, long fermentation, and slow distillation to create smooth, well-balanced whiskies.
Wolfburn offers a variety of expressions, including both core and limited-edition releases. The whiskies typically exhibit a light to medium body, with flavor profiles featuring a mix of fruity, malty, and sometimes slightly smoky notes. Common tasting notes include apple, pear, honey, vanilla, and a subtle oak influence from the aging process, which often takes place in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks.
With an alcohol content usually around 46%, Wolfburn whiskies are crafted to be approachable yet full of character. Their attention to quality and craftsmanship has earned them a growing reputation among whisky enthusiasts seeking authentic, artisanal Highland Scotch.
