Simonsig
Simonsig is a distinguished South African winery located in the Stellenbosch region, one of the country’s most renowned wine-producing areas. Established in 1953 by the Malan family, Simonsig has become synonymous with quality and innovation in South African wine, particularly known for its pioneering role in introducing Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) sparkling wine to the country.
Simonsig’s flagship wine is the Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel, South Africa’s first MCC, which was introduced in 1971. This sparkling wine, made in the traditional Champagne method, is celebrated for its fine bubbles, crisp acidity, and complex flavors of citrus, apple, and brioche, making it a standout in the world of sparkling wines.
In addition to its renowned MCC, Simonsig produces a wide range of wines, including Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is committed to sustainable viticulture and aims to reflect the unique terroir of Stellenbosch in every bottle. Simonsig’s wines are known for their balance, elegance, and ability to express both the heritage of South African winemaking and the innovative spirit of the Malan family.
