Rocca di Frassinello
Rocca di Frassinello is a prestigious winery located in the Maremma region of Tuscany, Italy. It was established in 2000 as a joint venture between two renowned names in the wine industry: Paolo Panerai, owner of Castellare di Castellina in Chianti, and the prestigious French wine producer Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite. The collaboration aimed to create a unique winery that would combine the best of Italian and French winemaking traditions.
The estate spans 500 hectares, with 80 hectares dedicated to vineyards, where both traditional Tuscan grape varieties like Sangioveto (the local name for Sangiovese) and French varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot are cultivated. The flagship wine of Rocca di Frassinello is its eponymous "Rocca di Frassinello," a Super Tuscan blend that exemplifies the marriage of Italian terroir and French elegance. The winery itself is also notable for its modern architecture, designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano, which reflects the innovative spirit of the estate.
