Peerless
Peerless is a Kentucky-based distillery known for its premium small-batch bourbon and rye whiskey. Founded in 1889 by Henry Kraver, the distillery originally gained recognition for its high-quality spirits but ceased operations during Prohibition. In 2015, nearly a century later, Kraver's great-grandson, Corky Taylor, revived the brand, bringing Peerless back to life in Louisville, Kentucky.
Peerless is unique in that it produces its whiskey using a sweet mash process rather than the more common sour mash, allowing for a more delicate and complex flavor profile. The distillery also takes pride in its non-chill filtration process and barreling its whiskey at a lower proof, which helps to preserve the natural flavors and aromas of the spirit. Peerless’s offerings, particularly its Kentucky Straight Rye and Kentucky Straight Bourbon, have received critical acclaim for their rich, nuanced taste, often characterized by notes of caramel, spice, and oak. The distillery's commitment to quality and tradition has made it a respected name in the American whiskey scene.
