Olmeca Altos
Olmeca Altos is a popular tequila brand that originates from the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico. Known for its commitment to traditional production methods, Olmeca Altos is crafted using 100% blue agave, which is grown at high altitudes where the soil and climate contribute to the agave's unique flavor profile. The brand was co-founded by two renowned bartenders, Henry Besant and Dre Masso, alongside Master Distiller Jesús Hernández, with the goal of creating a premium yet accessible tequila.
Olmeca Altos offers a range of expressions, including Plata (unaged), Reposado (aged for 6-8 months), and Añejo (aged for over a year). Each of these tequilas is distilled in copper pot stills and often stone-crushed using the traditional Tahona method, which helps to retain the rich, authentic flavors of the agave. Olmeca Altos is praised for its smoothness, balance, and versatility, making it a favorite among bartenders and tequila enthusiasts alike.
