Old Fitzgerald
Old Fitzgerald is a revered brand of bourbon whiskey with a rich history dating back to the late 1800s. It was originally produced by John E. Fitzgerald at his distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand has since become synonymous with quality and tradition, particularly known for its "Bottled-in-Bond" offerings. Now owned by Heaven Hill Distillery, Old Fitzgerald continues to be crafted using a unique wheated bourbon recipe, which replaces rye with wheat in the mash bill. This gives the whiskey a softer, sweeter profile compared to traditional rye-based bourbons.
One of the most celebrated expressions of Old Fitzgerald is the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond series, which adheres to the strict regulations of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This requires the bourbon to be the product of one distillation season, by one distiller, at one distillery, and aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse. These expressions are typically aged much longer, often for a decade or more, resulting in a complex and mature whiskey with deep flavors of caramel, vanilla, and oak, alongside subtle fruity and floral notes. The brand’s decanter series, released biannually, is particularly prized by collectors and connoisseurs for its exceptional quality and ornate packaging, reflecting the brand's storied heritage and commitment to excellence.
