Machir Bay
Machir Bay is a flagship single malt Scotch whisky produced by Kilchoman Distillery, located on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Named after a picturesque bay near the distillery, Machir Bay showcases the unique characteristics of Islay whiskies, known for their rich, peaty flavors and maritime influences. Kilchoman, established in 2005, is one of the newer distilleries on the island, yet it has quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality, artisanal single malts.
Machir Bay is a vatting of both bourbon and sherry cask-matured whiskies, typically aged for around five to seven years. This combination creates a well-balanced profile with layers of complexity. The whisky offers a nose of citrus, vanilla, and peat smoke, leading to a palate featuring a harmonious blend of sweet vanilla, tropical fruit, and earthy peat. The finish is long and clean, with lingering notes of smoke and sweetness. As Kilchoman's signature expression, Machir Bay embodies the distillery's commitment to traditional whisky-making techniques and the distinctive flavors of Islay.
