Ilegal
Ilegal Mezcal is a premium mezcal brand that originated from a bar in Antigua, Guatemala. The brand is known for its commitment to traditional production methods and high-quality, handcrafted mezcal. Ilegal Mezcal is produced in Oaxaca, Mexico, using 100% Espadín agave. The agave hearts are roasted in earthen pits, crushed by a traditional tahona stone, and then fermented and distilled in small batches. This artisanal process results in a mezcal with distinctive smoky flavors and complex, nuanced profiles.
The brand offers a range of expressions, including Ilegal Joven (unaged), Ilegal Reposado (aged 4-6 months), and Ilegal Añejo (aged 13 months). Each variant showcases the unique characteristics of the agave and the meticulous care taken in production. Ilegal Mezcal is celebrated for its authenticity, rich flavors, and smooth finish, making it a favorite among mezcal enthusiasts.
