Driftless Glen Distillery
An American Distillery
Driftless Glen's goal is to make spirits just as unique as the people who taste them. So when owners Brian & Reneé Bemis searched the country for a terroir harboring the grain and water necessary to make a matchless expression of bourbon and rye, they couldn’t ignore the Driftless Area in Wisconsin.
Brian & Renee didn’t choose their home for the Driftless Glen distillery. Rather they discovered a bountiful region rich with peat, bogs, an amazing aquifer, and uncommon sandy soil for grains to grow in. The edge of the Driftless Area is known as Sand County, and it is distinctive from the rest of the world due to the specific combination of temperature, water, soil, and weather...which all combine to produce the Driftless Glen's remarkable spirits.
Driftless Glenn uses a 10,000 pound, 44-foot tall column still along with a one-of-a-kind pot still. Using grain and water from the Driftless Region, they produce and barrel bourbon or rye daily. The company produces all of their whiskey from locally sourced grain and currently sports a 4+ year age statement. They age their whiskey in 25 and 30 gallon barrels in order to accelerate maturation. This is probably why their whiskeys feature a darker-than-expected color.
Now people come from throughout the country to discover this region for themselves, and to tour the refined distillation and tasting experience offered at the distillery.
You can visit Driftless Glenn on the banks of the Baraboo River, the longest mainstream restored free flowing river in America, and witness the masterful distilling process empoyed to bring their unique spirits to life.
