Clos de Los Siete
Clos de Los Siete is a renowned wine project based in the Uco Valley of Argentina, spearheaded by famed French winemaker Michel Rolland. Established in the early 2000s, the venture brought together seven prominent French winemakers and estates, all drawn to the potential of Argentina’s terroir. The name "Clos de Los Siete" translates to "Vineyard of the Seven," referencing this collaboration. The estate covers over 800 hectares in the foothills of the Andes, where the high-altitude vineyards benefit from optimal growing conditions for producing bold, expressive wines.
The flagship wine, also named Clos de Los Siete, is a blend of Bordeaux-style varietals, primarily featuring Malbec, along with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The wine is known for its rich, full-bodied profile, showcasing the depth and power of Argentine Malbec, balanced with the finesse of the other varietals. On the palate, it offers layers of dark fruit such as blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of spice, chocolate, and a hint of oak from aging in French barrels. The structured tannins and vibrant acidity give the wine excellent aging potential, while its smooth, approachable finish makes it enjoyable in its youth.
Clos de Los Siete has become a symbol of the successful marriage between Old World winemaking expertise and the unique terroir of the New World. The result is a wine that consistently delivers quality, complexity, and a sense of place, earning it praise from wine critics and enthusiasts alike.
