Citadelle
Citadelle Gin is a premium French gin with a rich history and a commitment to artisanal craftsmanship. Founded in 1996 by Alexandre Gabriel, Citadelle is produced by Maison Ferrand in the Cognac region of France. Citadelle was one of the first modern gins to embrace a more complex, refined profile, combining traditional distillation techniques with an innovative approach to botanical selection. The gin is distilled in small copper pot stills originally used for cognac, which imparts a smooth, velvety texture to the spirit.
Citadelle Gin is crafted using 19 carefully selected botanicals, which include juniper, citrus peel, coriander, star anise, and more exotic ingredients such as yuzu and violet root. These botanicals are steeped in the base spirit, allowing for a delicate balance of flavors. The result is a gin that is both classic and contemporary, offering a harmonious blend of juniper-forward notes, bright citrus, and floral undertones, with a hint of spice in the finish. Citadelle is praised for its versatility, making it perfect for both traditional gin cocktails like a gin and tonic or martini, as well as more creative, modern concoctions.
In addition to their original gin, Citadelle offers various limited editions and unique expressions, such as the Citadelle Réserve, which is aged in oak barrels, and Citadelle Jardin d’Été, which highlights more floral and fruity notes. With its dedication to quality, innovation, and tradition, Citadelle Gin has earned a place among the world’s most respected gin brands, appealing to both gin connoisseurs and those exploring the world of craft spirits.
