Applejack
Applejack is a type of apple brandy with a rich history in the United States, dating back to colonial times. Traditionally made by fermenting apple cider and then distilling it, this spirit is known for its robust apple flavor and can also be aged in wooden barrels to develop additional complexity. The term "applejack" historically referred to a method called "jacking," where cider was frozen to concentrate the alcohol by removing the ice, which is mostly water.
The resulting spirit offers notes of caramel, vanilla, and spices, with its flavor profile varying from smooth and mellow to intense and complex, depending on the aging process and production techniques. Applejack is enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a flavorful ingredient in cocktails, celebrated for its versatility and distinctive apple character.
