Ben Nevis

6 items in this collection.
Ben Nevis Distillery is found in Fort William, Inverness-shire. It sits at the base of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest mountain. Ben Nevis was founded in 1825 by ‘Long’ John McDonald. In 1955 Ben Nevis installed a Coffey still so they could produce both grain and malt whisky. The distillery was one of the first in Scotland to be able to create both grain and malt whisky. The Coffey still was removed in 1981 when the company was bought back by Long John Distillers. The distillery is currently owned by the Japanese company, Nikka Whisky Distilling Company. They produce about 1,800,000 litres of spirit a year. They have two wash stills, two spirit stills and eight washbacks, six stainless steel and two Oregon pine. House Style: Robust. Waxy fruitiness and floweriness. Oily, a tough of smoke. Restorative or book-at-bedtime.
